The golden bay
Cala d´Or (Golden Bay) is situated in the South-East of Mallorca, and 60 km from Palma. Especially lovers of nature and the authentic Mallorca like this region, which saved the authentic Balearic lifestyle out of the way of mass tourism. The beautiful white low-rise buildings give Cala d´Or a typical Mediterranean flair and remind of the neighbouring island of Ibiza.
In its design, architect Josep Costaferra was inspired by his native Ibiza to expand the village in the 1930s. With just over 4.000 inhabitants the village of Migjorn, which is part of the municipality of Santanyi, offers tranquillity to the visitors and residents as well as all the advantages of modern life, thanks to the good infrastructure.
In the historic village center you will find dreamy alleys, gourmet restaurants, shops and bars which invite you to stroll and enjoy.
Beaches and marina Cala d´Or
In and outside of the village you will find several beaches and romantic bays with crystal clear water. The region is mainly known for its coastline, which is crossed with cliffs. These cliffs are interrupted by unique bays, from which you can relax and enjoy the sea and the sun. All sports enthusiasts find optimal conditions for surfing, diving, and sailing in Cala d´Or. To the bays and beaches belong of course the namesake Cala d´Or, as well as Cala Serena, Cala Ferrera, Cala Esmeralda, Cala Gran, Cala d´es Forti, Cala Galera and Cala Egos. Close to Cala d´Or you will also find the Cala Mondrágo double bay, situated in a natural reserve, as well as the two original fishing villages of Cala Figuera and Porto Petro. With its own sports marina, Cala d´Or has a further highlight to offer. Both yachts as well as sailing and motor boats find their berths here. Of course, there are also some fine restaurants and bars here, so you can spend your siesta or the relaxed end of the day with the view of the marina and the historic fortress Es Forti.
